  • chris winkleman

    pastor

    Chris has been FBC's Pastor since October 2008. Prior to being called to serve at FBC, he was Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Meridian, Mississippi. Chris has a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.


    Married to Laura since August 2001, they have 5 children: Sophie, Isaac, Mary Beth, Lilli, and Asher.

  • joe Thompson

    associate pastor, Youth

    Joe Thompson has been an associate pastor at First Baptist Church since 2005. Joe is also responsible for working with the youth and families. In addition to his service at FBC, Joe teaches English at Harrisburg High School. Joe has a B.S. degree in English from SIU-Carbondale, a M.S. degree in Kinesiology from Eastern Illinois University, and an M.S. degree in Christian Studies from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.


    Joe has been married to Stacey since August of 1988. They have four children, Caleb (Brandie), Kate (Ethan), Cooper, and Sykes (Hannah).

  • brad vinyard

    associate pastor, discipleship and missions

    Brad is Associate Pastor, Discipleship and Missions, and has been on staff at FBC since August of 2011. He has an Associate of Arts from Southeastern Illinois College, and a Bachelors of Theology from Mid-Continent University. In his ministry, he is responsible for the mission work of the church, which seeks to obey the Great Commission of Jesus by making disciples locally, statewide, nationally, and around the world. Brad is also responsible for discipleship. This includes one-on-one discipling, as well as coordinating Life University classes, which are six-week, small group classes that meet on Sunday nights after worship.


    Brad is married to Holly, and together they have three children: Preston, Lydia, and Silas (who they are waiting to bring home from Haiti).

  • KELLIE SMITH

    minister to children

    Kellie Smith has served as the Minister to Children since September 1995. Before that, she served at Raleigh Baptist Church in Raleigh, Illinois where she was the youth minister. Kellie has an Associate of Arts degree from John A. Logan College followed by a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Greenville College.


    Kellie has been married to Ryan since June 1996. They have five children: Raegan, Madison, Peyton, McKellyn, and Emersyn.

  • HOLLY VINYARD, BAILEY DRONE, & LAURA WINKLEMAN

    Worship Leaders

    Holly, Bailey, and Laura team up to lead First Baptist Church in worship through music.


    Holly is the wife of Brad Vinyard and teaches math at Harrisburg High School.


    Bailey is currently a student at Southeastern Illinois College here in Harrisburg.


    Laura is the wife of Chris Winkleman and works at home raising their 5 children.


  • Carolyn elam

    church secretary

    Carolyn Elam is the church secretary for First Baptist Church. Carolyn has been with FBC since February of 1980. Before coming to FBC, Carolyn was seeking work at a former employer. She joined FBC after being informed by G.B. Wiley that the previous church secretary had resigned. Carolyn felt that God had a hand in her being at FBC. After a few calls from Ken Hopkins, Carolyn returned to the church to talk to the Personnel Committee and started working the next morning.


    Carolyn has three children: Jennifer, Rebecca, and Bill. She also has seven grandchildren: Kassi, Kaleb, Konnor, Brandon, Travis, Jayci, and Dakota.


    When not at FBC, Carolyn is very busy. She enjoys mowing the yard, dancing, bowling twice a week, and taking in the snow whenever it falls. Carolyn grew up in northern Indiana and is one of the seven children.


    Carolyn enjoys working at FBC and feels comfortable being able to serve the congregation and staff in all ways. She feels that God has placed her at FBC.

  • Tim Ramsey

    Facilities Manager

    Tim Ramsey is the facilities maintenance manager. He started with First Baptist Church in February 2006. He manages the maintenance and cleaning staff at FBC.


    Tim and his wife Sherri live in Harrisburg. They have two sons and daughters-in-law. They also have one granddaughter and two grandsons.


    Tim also serves as the Celebrate Recovery Apprentice Ministry Leader.


    Before coming to FBC, Tim had 20 years of experience in the agriculture industry. He was the assistant manager of a farm service's plant. He was also a certified crop consultant. He also oversaw the facilities and maintenance operations.

    "But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners. Christ died for us. Much more then having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him." - Romans 5:8-9

  • jimi williams-cox

    finance manager

    Jimi Williams-Cox joined the FBC team in January of 2009. As finance manager, she is responsible for maintaining finance records and complying with regulatory reporting. She currently serves as the Director for the Senior Adult Ministry (SALT). 


    During her time at FBC, she has been active in Celebrate Recovery by serving as the Encourager Coach and on the BBQ Team, and by leading step studies and small groups. She also does BBQs for Missions fundraisers and prepares meals for special ministry events.


    Outside of the FBC, Jimi operates an ATV/OHV park and a campground. She writes grants and promotes tourism. She loves animals and enjoys camping, ATV riding, target shooting, playing the piano, traveling, and watching horse racings.


    Prior to joining the FBC team, Jimi worked for 18 years in the administration office at Harrisburg School District.


    Jimi holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Mid-Contient University.


    Jimi is the wife of David Cox and is the mother to Lexie. She has three dogs.
